The Disability Rights Watch (DRW) has emphasized the importance of education and skills training for persons with disabilities, highlighting that limited access to such opportunities remains a key barrier to employment and social integration.
Organization’s Co-ordinator, Bruce Chooma, has called on youths with disabilities to take advantage of skills training programs available through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to enhance their employment prospects and independence.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Chooma stressed the need for individuals to equip themselves with essential skills that will enable them to compete favourably in the job market.
“Persons with disabilities are encouraged to seize these opportunities and acquire skills that will empower them economically,” said Mr. Chooma.
He also commended government for its commitment to promoting the employment of persons with disabilities, noting that it has demonstrated strong political will by becoming the largest employer of persons with disabilities in the country.
