Lumezi Town Council has paid out more than K1.6 million of the Constituency Development Fund CDF for the electrification of Diwa Primary School and surrounding areas as well as the installation of solar boreholes.
A contract valued at K1,192,878.81 was awarded by the Local Authority to Mudangi Investment Limited on behalf of the Rural Electrification Authority for electrification of Diwa Primary School and surrounding areas.
Lumezi Town Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Irvin Muyumbwa, says electrification of this public facility and its surrounding areas is expected to be finalized within a period of 9 weeks.
He said the project for the electrification of public facilities in Diwa was approved under the 2022 CDF and delays to commence works is attributed to finalization of all modalities between the Council and Rural Electrification Authority.
“So far, the contractor has concluded bush clearing and laying of poles as they await delivery of transformers that have been ordered from China,” said Mr. Muyumbwa in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
And Mr. Muyumbwa said the Council has awarded a contract valued at K498,862.70 to Mshasasi Construction and General Dealers Limited for the drilling, equipping and installation of two solar boreholes at Kateme Market in Diwa Ward and Fountain Hope Foundation in Lumimba Ward.
“Once completed in 6 weeks, the two projects are expected to provide clean drinking water to residents of the respective areas,” said Mr. Muyumbwa.
