Embassy of the Czech Republic in Zambia has donated five Intensive Care Unit beds at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) Women and Newborn wing.
Speaking during the donation Minister of Health Elijah Muchima said the Czech Republic has consistently proven itself a steadfast ally in Zambia’s health beyond today’s donation.
Dr. Muchima said the donation symbolizes the enduring friendship between the two states, a bond built on mutual respect and shared aspirations.
“Government remains resolute in its commitment to reduce maternal mortality and eliminate preventable deaths of newborns and children under five. These goals, aligned with Sustainable Development Targets 3.1 and 3.2, demand urgent action as we approach the 2030 deadline”, said Dr. Muchima.
Mr. Muchima said that such are indispensable in strengthening the healthcare systems and ensuring equitable access to quality maternal and neonatal care.
