CRAZ SAYS BUS FARES TO REMAIN UNCHANGED

The Commuters Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) says it does not anticipate a reduction in bus fares despite the recent drop in fuel prices for the month of May.

This follows a statement by the Bus and Taxi Drivers Association yesterday, indicating that commuters may not benefit from a fare reduction this month despite the significant reduction in fuel pump prices.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, CRAZ President, Aaron Kamuti, said it is premature to consider adjusting bus fares based on a single fuel price drop.

“This is the first time the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has effected such a significant reduction, so there is need to observe the trend over the next two months before making any decisions,” said Mr. Kamuti.

He emphasized that consistency in fuel price reductions is necessary before convening a consultative meeting to discuss possible fare adjustments.
