The Commuter Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) has urged government NOT to succumb to the new conditions the Bus and Taxi owners Association of Zambia has presented, in order for them to resume normal operations for long distance routes.
Yesterday, during a meeting with Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, the association demanded among other conditions that government lifts the night ban, removes GPS on buses and increases the speed limit for long distance buses.
But speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Kamuti said that the conditions put forward by the association are not feasible.
“Government should not agree to the conditions because they were all set up to ensure passengers’ lives are protected during long distance journeys,” said Mr. Kamuti.
He has therefore urged the association and other bus operators to be considerate, saying that their continued strike is negatively affecting the movement of goods and people across the country.
