The 2025 World Consumer Rights Day National Organizing Committee has urged consumers across the country to consistently demand accurate and reliable information from service providers to protect themselves from deception, exploitation, and harmful products or services.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka ahead of World Consumer Rights Day, which will be commemorated on March 15, 2025, under the theme “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles,” Committee Chairperson, King Syacika, emphasized the importance of consumer rights awareness and empowerment.
Mr. Syacika encouraged consumers to take advantage of the Access to Information Act No. 24 of 2023 to request credible information that would help them make informed decisions.
“Every person who buys a product or service is entitled to accurate information that enables them to make informed choices without the risk of being deceived or manipulated,” said Mr. Syacika.
He further stressed the need for consumers to develop a culture of reading product labels and promptly reporting expired, poorly packaged, or mislabeled products to the relevant authorities for safety enforcement.
