CITIZEN FIRST PARTY WITHDRAWS FROM UKA

Citizen’s First Party leader, Harry Kalaba, has announced his party’s withdrawal from the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), signalling a shift in strategy towards forming broader political coalitions.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Kalaba disclosed that the party is currently awaiting an official invitation to join the Tonse Alliance, following preliminary discussions initiated by Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP) President and Tonse Alliance Spokesperson Sean Tembo.

Mr. Kalaba emphasized that any decision to join a new alliance will be made collectively by the Citizen First Central Committee, noting that he does not make such decisions unilaterally.

He also highlighted his openness to being led by others, stating that “You cannot lead if you are not prepared to be led.”

He further stated that although he remains young and politically patient, he is ready to work with like-minded leaders for the betterment of the nation.

In a separate appeal, Mr. Kalaba called on religious and traditional leaders, opposition parties, and civil society organizations to unite in rejecting any attempts to amend the Republican Constitution, warning that such efforts could undermine democratic progress.
