Laborers in Christ Founder, Denia Nyirongo, has called on the church to be intentional in preaching messages that encourage young people to practice abstinence.
Mrs. Nyirongo expressed concern that while the church focuses on nurturing the spirituality of young people, it often neglects pressing societal challenges such as pre-marital sex.
Speaking on Christian Voice’s Chatback program during a discussion on the topic “Yes to Abstinence and No to Drug and Substance Abuse,” Mrs. Nyirongo emphasized the need for churches to incorporate teachings on abstinence and drug abuse prevention within their youth programs.
“The church must be deliberate in ensuring that messages on abstinence and substance abuse awareness are integrated into youth teachings through their various church groupings,” said Mrs. Nyirongo.
She further urged parents to take a leading role in educating their children about the dangers of pre-marital sex and substance abuse, stressing that awareness should begin at home.
