CHURCH PLEADS WITH GOV’T TO BRING BACK ECL’S REMAINS FOR BURIAL

Three Church mother bodies namely, the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ), Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops Conference for (ZCCB) has pleaded with government to repatriate the body of the late former President Edgar Lungu to Zambia for burial.

Speaking  when they paid a courtesy call on President Hakainde Hichilema at State House today, EFZ Director Andrew Mwenda also emphasized that the church is not working in isolation but with the government of the day as scripture commands.

Bishop Mwenda said the late former Head of State was not only a family man but a father to over 20 million Zambians who would want to pay their last respect to the man who led them for 7 years.

Bishop Mwenda said no insults have been uttered towards government by the church and no stones have been thrown, despite some disagreements on certain matters including the constitution amendment Bill number 7 of 2025 which he says needs to be withdrawn.
