CHURCH CALLS FOR GOV’T – LUNGU FAMILY DIALOGUE

The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Lusaka Presbytery Bishop, Lordwell Siame, has called for a neutral mediator to step in and resolve the ongoing conflict between the government and the family of the late former President Edgar Lungu.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News today, Bishop Siame emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding to ensure a peaceful and well-organized funeral, urging both parties to come together in the spirit of reconciliation.

Bishop Siame also encouraged the government to engage the Lungu family and seek to understand the reasons behind their rejection of state involvement in the funeral arrangements.

“In as much the state might not be responsible for the death of President Edgar Lungu, it’s important that they apologize to the bereaved family, for the sake of peace and sanity said Bishop Siame.

The bishop further warned that ongoing provocations are only delaying agreements on funeral arrangements and are tarnishing the image of a nation built on the motto “One Zambia, One Nation.

He has also expressed concern over several statements being made by various government officials regarding the funeral arrangements for the late President Edgar Lungu.
