CDF ALLOCATION FOR WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES URGED TO BE INCREASED

The Zambia Union for All Persons Living with Disabilities has urged government to allocate a specific percentage of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to women living with disabilities.

Union President, Pascal Mulenga, noted that many women with disabilities have been unable to fully benefit from various government empowerment programs due to stigma, which continues to hinder their personal and economic growth.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, ahead of the International Women’s Day, which falls on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Mr. Mulenga appealed to the Office of the President and women’s organizations to prioritize the inclusion of women with disabilities in governance.

“Women play a vital role in society and are among the most vulnerable, and it is therefore, crucial that they receive adequate support and empowerment to achieve self-reliance and improve their livelihoods,” said Mr. Mulenga.
