The Bank of Zambia (BoZ) has advised investors in Government securities and the public to be cautious of fraudulent communication, falsely claiming to be from the Central Bank and demanding regulatory fees.
BoZ Assistant Director, Communications, Besnat Mwanza, clarified that the fraudulent emails originate from [email protected], which is not an official email address of the Bank of Zambia.
“This communication is fraudulent and misleading, as the central Bank does not charge investors any ‘regulatory fees,” said Ms. Mwanza in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She further disclosed that the central bank has launched investigations into the matter and urged investors and the public not to respond to the email.
Ms. Mwanza also advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communication to law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that the official Bank of Zambia email address is [email protected].
