Build Zambia 2064 Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Mushalika, has urged government to withdraw Constitution Amendment Bill No. 7 of 2025, citing a lack of public consultation.
Dr. Mushalika noted that the bill, which is scheduled for its first reading today, has been clearly rejected by the majority of Zambians due to concerns over its legitimacy and inclusiveness.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Dr. Mushalika emphasized that citizens must be meaningfully involved in shaping laws that directly affect their lives, as legislation is closely tied to national development and individual freedoms.
“Failure to adequately consult on Bill No. 7 will likely trigger the same backlash the country witnessed with the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Law,” said Dr. Mushalika.
