BARS AND NIGHT CLUBS URGED TO SOUNDPROOF THEIR PREMISES

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has urged Bars and Night Clubs owners to soundproof their premises, following several complaints regarding noise pollution from establishments that play loud music.

LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba , says the Council, in one of the recent management sittings resolved that all Bars, Night Clubs, and liquor licensed premises must ensure their premises are fully soundproofed.

“The Local Authority has guided that in the meantime, all establishments must not play loud music after 22:00hours,” said Ms. Mwamba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Ms. Mwamba said noise pollution has severe effects on communities, which include hearing loss, stress, anxiety, depression, cardiovascular problems and high blood pressure.

She urged all affected businesses to take immediate action to comply with this directive.
