APPOINTMENT ACC DG AND BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS-AIPCA

The Acton Institute for Policy Analysis Centre (AIPAC) has urged government to expedite the appointment of a substantive Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General and Board of Commissioners.

AIPAC says the delay is alarming following ACC Acting Director General’s announcement of investigations into nine ministers.

In a statement to RCV News today, AIPAC Executive Director, Solomon Ngoma, highlighted that the recent launch of the National Policy on Anti-Corruption may underscore government’s commitment towards the fight against corruption but that the delay in appointments may hinder progress.

“The new National Policy on Anti-Corruption calls for inclusiveness of all key stakeholders and citizens, and it’s essential that everyone works together to achieve a zero-tolerance, corruption-free nation,” said Mr. Ngoma.

Mr. Ngoma said corruption erodes trust, weakens democracy, hampers economic development, and exacerbates inequality, poverty, social division, and the environmental crisis.

He has also emphasized that the fight against corruption is not only President Hakainde Hichilema’s responsibility, but a collective effort requiring commitment from every citizen and stakeholder.
