Motivational Centre For Africa’s Transformation ( MOCAT ) Chief Executive officer, Gilbert Banda, has urged Banks to develop appetite to fund farming activities across the country.
Mr. Banda who is also an Agriculture Expert says it is unfortunate that Banks are still reluctant to give farmers loans.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Banda emphasised how access to affordable financing is a game-changer for farmers, enabling them to invest in modern equipment, quality inputs, and advanced techniques to boost productivity.
“Banks must develop a stronger appetite for supporting farming activities and it is time to recognize that agriculture is not just a means of survival but a viable and profitable business sector,” said Mr. Banda.
Mr. Banda emphasized that unlocking the potential of agriculture requires a shift in mindset within the financial sector.
