AGRICULTURE EXPERT OPTIMISTIC ABOUT LOWER FARMING INPUT COSTS

Agriculture Expert, Gilbert Banda, has expressed optimism over the anticipated reduction in farming input costs, following the commencement of operations at United Capital Fertilizer Company.

Recently, Minister of Agriculture Mtolo Phiri assured farmers that the United Capital Fertilizer Company would meet local demand for fertilizers as it begins operations this year.

Speaking to RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Banda stated that locally produced fertilizers would significantly reduce government spending on imports, allowing resources to be redirected toward the growth and development of the agricultural sector.

“The initiative will boost profitability for the farming community and increase hectarage, as more farmers will be able to afford fertilizer,” said Mr. Banda,”

Mr. Banda further advised the government to promote bio-intensive agriculture, emphasizing its importance for sustainable farming and long-term food security.
