AFDB PRESIDENT MEETS ITALIAN OFFICIALS

The Embassy of Zambia in Italy has received Samuel Maimbo, Zambia’s candidate for President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) when he paid a courtesy call on the Zambia’s  Ambassador to Italy, Patricia Kondolo.

Dr. Maimbo who has been endorsed by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), has continued engaging high level stakeholders in his campaign, with the support of President Hakainde Hichilema.

During his visit to Rome, Italy, Dr. Maimbo was briefed on the efforts made by the Embassy to campaign for his candidature, through engagements with various high-level Italian officials, a statement issued to RCV News by the Zambia  Embassy in Rome today.

Dr. Maimbo thanked the Embassy for the efforts made so far in engaging with the Italian authorities, emphasizing that the strong bilateral relations shared between Zambia and Italy will be critical in garnering support for his campaign.

The Embassy further added that at the height of his visit to Rome, was a meeting with Ms. Francesa Utile, Director General for International Financial Relations, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, during which he highlighted his vision for Africa’s economic growth, in partnership with various stakeholders globally, among them, Italy and the European Union.
