Access Bank Zambia says it is co-sponsorship the 2024 CBL Charity Shield season opening event in the Zambian Premier League calendar, scheduled for this Saturday August 10th, 2024, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Charity Shield is set to make history with the introduction of women’s participation for the first time in its 67-year history.
“The inclusion of women’s teams in this prestigious event marks a significant step forward in promoting gender equality and empowering women in sports,” Access Bank Managing Director, Lishala Situmbeko, has said in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He said this milestone is aligned with the Bank’s commitment and support towards not only sport, but to women across all sectors through the W-Initiative.
Mr. Situmbeko said Access Bank’s banking proportion for women is premised on capacity building, mentorship and women empowerment with focus on financial inclusion aimed at accelerating female entrepreneurship..
“To further demonstrate our commitment, we are proud to sponsor this year’s event with a contribution of K300,000, doubling the K150,000 provided last year,” said Mr. Situmbeko.
