CRAZ CAUTIONS DRIVERS AGAINST OVER-SPEEDING

The Commuters Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) has warned drivers against excessive speeding, emphasizing the need for caution to prevent road accidents.

This follows a fatal road traffic accident that occurred yesterday  along the Great North Road, where two passengers traveling on a Public Service Vehicle lost their lives.

The accident happened when a bus property of Jkas improperly overtook a Volvo and collided with a Tanzanian truck.

CRAZ President, Aaron Kamuti, attributed the accident  to reckless and dangerous driving, stating that some drivers disregard passenger safety.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Kamuti has therefore urged the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) to take action by ensuring both the driver and the bus owner are penalized to deter similar accidents.

“These buses are always over-speeding, and there is a need to investigate the rationale behind this unnecessary speeding,” said Mr. Kamuti.

He further called on drivers to exercise greater caution, especially during the rainy season, as slippery roads increase the risk of accidents.
