The United Party for National Development (UPND) has expressed satisfaction with its recent victories in ward by-elections and the Pambashe parliamentary seat, describing them as a vote of confidence from the Zambian people.
UPND Deputy Media Director, Cheelo Katambo, stated that winning three out of four by-elections is a clear indication that Zambians trust the party’s policies.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Katambo emphasized that the Pambashe parliamentary victory signifies the party’s growing influence across the country.
Meanwhile, Tonse Alliance Vice Chairperson, Danny Pule, commended the people of Petauke for upholding democracy by electing a leader of their choice.
Dr. Pule expressed delight over the Tonse Alliance securing a parliamentary seat, stating that this marks the alliance’s entry onto the national political stage, as a viable alternative for leadership.
However, the Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has expressed concern over the low voter turnout in both Pambashe and Petauke constituencies.
AVAP Executive Director, Richwell Mulwani, attributed the low participation to growing public disillusionment with politics, which he said has led to a lack of enthusiasm among voters.
