AVAP CALLS FOR PEACEFUL PARLIAMENTARY AND WARD BY-ELECTIONS

The Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) has called on electorates participating in the upcoming parliamentary by- elections in Petauke and Pambashe, as well as the ward by- elections in Mpongwe and Mongu, to turn out in large numbers and actively report any instances of electoral malpractice.

AVAP Executive Director, Richwell Mulwani, emphasized the importance of voter participation in strengthening democracy and ensuring that the electoral process is transparent and credible.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Mulwani urged electoral officials to create an environment that is inclusive and accessible to all members of society, regardless of their background or circumstances.

“It is crucial that the electoral process accommodates everyone and that voters feel safe and confident when exercising their democratic right,” said Mr. Mulwani.

He also appealed to political parties to respect the authority of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and allow the elections to be conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
