Nalolo Member of Parliament, Imanga Wamunyima, has warned contractors awarded tenders under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to desist from delivering shoddy works.
Speaking when he inspected the rehabilitation of Kataba Rural Health Centre yesterday, Mr. Wamunyima was not pleased with the workmanship by the contractor working on the project.
The contract to rehabilitate Kataba Health Post whose roof was blown off after a hailstorm during the 2023/2024 rainy season was awarded to Leozone Construction and General Dealer in June 2024, and the project was expected to be completed within four months at K785, 172 using the 2023 CDF under the disaster component.
“So far the works that have been done unfortunately are shoddy works and the contractor is excepted to do better works,” said Mr. Wamunyima in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by Nalolo Town Council Public Relations Officer, Buttyson Kandimba.
The lawmaker directed the Council to ensure that no payment is made to the contractor before taking corrective measures and certified by the engineers.
And Leozone Construction and General Dealers project manager, Wenstone Wamunzila, assured the lawmaker that the works will be redone and completed in the next two months.
