The Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) has expressed concern over a huge trend of people masquerading as procurement officers in Zambia.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka during the launch of a nationwide compliance enforcement campaign, ZIPS President Daniel Kabamba emphasized that only certified professionals, as mandated by the ZIPS Act No. 15 of 2003, are legally authorized to perform procurement duties.
Mr. Kabamba explained that enforcing this regulation is crucial to safeguarding national resources and combating corruption.
“ All employers and supervisors have been called to ensure that only persons certified by ZIPS with a valid practicing licence must practice procurement and stores function”, said Mr Kabamba.
He further warned that failure to address this issue could undermine the effective implementation of the 2025 national budget.
Mr. Kabamba also issued a stern warning to those violating the law, stating that offenders will face strict consequences.
