The Chiengi Town Council has launched a community project appraisal exercise in a bid to enhance service delivery and align with the new dawn government’s rural development initiatives.
Council Public Relations Officer Wells Chifunda said the move aims to assist the local authority and the Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) in scrutinizing the 2025 CDF community project submissions.
And following an increased CDF allocation to the constituency, from K30.6 million to K36 million, Mr. Chifunda revealed that, communities have submitted numerous projects that address their urgent needs.
“To assess the effectiveness of these community needs, a team of technocrats has been formed to evaluate the proposed project sites, sustainability, land conflicts, design, and approximate costs’’, said Mr. Chifunda in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
He stated that, the team, which comprises local authority representatives, has been working closely with Ward Councilors, the Ward Development Committee WDC chairpersons and traditional leaders.
Mr. Chifunda added that, the initiative & process demonstrates Chiengi Town Council’s commitment to community engagement in order to provide quality services and promote rural development in line with the new dawn Government’s vision.
