AgriPredict Solutions Company has introduced a suite of innovative services aimed at supporting smallholder farmers in rural areas with weather and marketing services that enable farmers to sell their produce.
AgriPredict Chief Technology Officer, Jonah Banda says the early warning services enables information to be shared among farmers, government officials and weather officials by crowd sourcing information that is relevant to the farmers and ensure it is settled on time.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Banda said that weather services that the company offers help in determining where the farmer is, the type of soil in the area, the soil moisture content, PH levels and give specific weather information and advise based on what the farmer is growing.
“The company has partnered with Google to utilise AI models that can digest complex information and deliver simple, actionable insights to farmers saying that the app was created to have a vast range of languages to meet the farmers preference,” said Mr. Banda.
Mr. Banda further added that the AgriPredict services have gained significant traction with over 350,000 users to date, as information is passed both on the apps and SMSs to ensure all smallholder farmers have access to the services.
