ZCSA CONCERNED WITH NON-COMPLIANT ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS

The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has raised concerns over the non-compliance of electrical products such as adapters, sockets, and extension cables on the market, highlighting the risks they pose to public safety.

ZCSA Public Relations Manager, Brian Hatyoka, says substandard products can lead to personal injuries, electrical shocks, and property damage in the event of a fire.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Hatyoka urged the public to purchase electrical products that meet safety standards to ensure their personal well-being.

“The Agency is this year enhancing enforcement and educational initiatives to educate consumers and help them make informed choices,” said Mr. Hatyoka.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hatyoka has commended the Lusaka City Council (LCC) for the seizure of non-compliant assorted goods, including food stuff in some parts of the city.

Mr. Hatyoka emphasized that failure to meet hygienic standards, such as poor handling and packaging, endangers public health and safety.

He has further urged producers and suppliers to supply standardized products, stating that those found wanting in supplying substandard products will face the law.
