AL GHURAIR PRINTING AND PUBLISHING TO PRINT 2026 BALLOT PAPERS

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has awarded a three-year contract to Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing of United Arab Emirates to print and deliver ballot papers and other election material for the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking during a media briefing on the road map of the 2026 general elections in Lusaka today, ECZ Chief Executive Officer Brown Kasaro said the Commission could not proceed with the contract with the company which was earlier picked, Ren Form CC of South Africa, as the bidder failed to comply with an action required by the solicitation document.

“This prompted the Commission to engage the second-best evaluated bidder instead, which is in line with section 180 Section 4 of the Public Procurement Regulation of 2022,” explained Mr. Kasaro.

Mr. Kasaro has also announced that the voter registration exercise ahead of the 2026 elections will start in the second quarter of this year.

He said the registration exercise will run for 60 days, after which the commission will undertake a deduplication process to ensure the integrity of the voters’ register.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kasaro has since urged political parties and candidates participating in the February 6th Petauke Central and Pambashe constituencies parliamentary by elections to adhere to the electoral code of conduct and has encouraged voters to turn out in numbers and exercise their right to vote.
