Kanyama Member of Parliament, Monty Chinkuli, has called on government to impose travel restrictions to and from Nakonde in a bid to combat the spread of cholera.
Mr. Chinkuli expressed concern about the potential impact of the outbreak on densely populated areas like Kanyama, where containing the disease could prove challenging.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Chinkuli said that governmnet must draw parallel measures it implemented in the fight against Covid-19 in containing the outbreak.
“If cholera spreads to congested areas such as Kanyama, it will be extremely difficult to control,” said Mr. Chinkuli.
He also advised residents of Kanyama to adhere to the five golden rules for cholera prevention, including frequent handwashing, drinking clean and safe water, and maintaining proper hygiene practices.
