POLITICAL PARTIES URGED TO CONDUCT ISSUE BASED CAMPAIGNS

Advocate for Democratic Governance Foundation (ADEG) has called on stakeholders to conduct issued based campaigns ahead of the Pambashe and Petauke Parliamentary by-elections.

ADEG Executive Director, Gideon Musonda says this follows the electoral malpractice which was recently observed in the Kawambwa constituency by-elections which included violence, intimidation, harassment and vote buying among others.

Mr. Musonda told RCV News in a statement today that the people of Pambeshe and Petauke deserve a better electoral environment, conducive to holding free, fair, and credible elections.

“Stakeholders involved in the forthcoming by-elections are urged to ensure peaceful and credible elections, conducted in line with electoral rules and regulations as enshrined in electoral laws,” said Mr. Musonda.

Meanwhile, Mr. Musonda has commended the peaceful filing of nominations in the two constituencies held on January 7, 2025.

He has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to proactively ensure compliance with electoral rules and regulations and prevent any violations and further urged the police to act professionally by providing security to all stakeholders, including opposition political parties.
