ZAMBIANS URGED TO MAKE PAYMENTS VIA DIGITAL PLATFORMS

Economist, Kelvin Chisanga has urged Zambians to embrace using digital platforms such as swiping and mobile money when making payments to avoid faded and old torn bank notes that are being rejected by consumers.

Mr. Chisanga says the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) issued a statement of not using money as gifts in money bouquets emphasizing that such practices lead to the degradation of the Zambian currency and causing of the worn-out bank notes.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News today, Mr. Chisanga said Zambia has now gone with the National payment switch which acts as a centralized hub were one can be able to make different forms of transactions.

“It is now easy to transact from one mobile money account to the other to help individuals make their payments,” said Mr. Chisanga.

He also said that the use of technology is being used where government service bus is helping to make payments for government services using digital means.
