President Hakainde Hichilema has stressed the importance of strengthening the connection between Zambia’s education system and the job market.
President Hichilema says the education sector should not only prepare a skilled workforce for the local labor market but also equip individuals to compete globally.
The President said this in a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Labor and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba, during the National skills productivity and jobs summit under the theme: bridging the skills, employment and productivity gap in Lusaka today.
Mr. Hichilema stressed the need to equip job seekers with the necessary tools to enable them get into employment quickly.
“Government is therefore hopeful that with the implementation the new curriculum, the education system will be more practical to the job market,” said Mr. Hichilema.
He has also called for innovative strategies to make Zambia’s workforce adaptable and competitive in an evolving global economy.
