SUPPORT 2023 ZAMBIA EDUCATION CURRICULUM-GOV’T

Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima called on the public to embrace the 2023 Zambia Education Curriculum Framework that is aimed at providing an avenue for producing a learner with desired competences.

The Minister says there is need to embrace the curriculum change which has aligned the structure of the education with global trends.

Speaking during the launch of the 2023 Zambia Education Curriculum Framework in Lusaka today, Mr. Syakalima said the development is a significant milestone, reflecting government’s unwavering commitment to providing high- quality education for all Zambians.

“The completed curriculum cycle that ran from 2013 to 2023, facilitated the review and reform of the curriculum my Ministry is launching today,” said Mr. Syakalima.

Mr. Syakalima said the framework also provides an avenue for producing a learner with desired competences.

He has highlighted that investment in young people through quality education provision ensures job creation and socio-economic transformation.

Mr. Syakalima has since implored the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) to align their examinations syllabi to the dictates of the framework and the demands of the curriculum.

He highlighted that advanced level education will be offered under secondary school education as forms 5 and 6 and the ordinary level secondary school education will run for four (4) years only (from form 1 to form 4) while primary school education will run for six (6) years, from grade 1 to 6.
