STATE HOUSE WASHES OFF HANDS ON PF WRANGLES

State House says President Hakainde Hichilema has  no involvement in the internal conflicts of the former ruling party, the Patriotic Front (PF), contrary to insinuations by former President Edgar Lungu.

This is in response to Mr. Lungu’s recent statement where he demanded that the Head of State ceases funding the two factions of the PF, and that he restores the records of the PF at the Registrar of Societies, as conditions to attend the dialogue proposed by the Oasis Forum and the Church.

But State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, said in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today that President Hichilema  finds Mr. Lungu’s demands not only strange but also contemptuous and preposterous.

“For the record, President Hichilema firmly believes in the rule of law and would never interfere with the operations of governance institutions, such as the Registrar of Societies,” said Mr. Hamasaka.

He however said President Hichilema has always been open to dialogue with all citizens, including the former President, whom he referred to as his dear brother.

Mr. Hamasaka said The Head of State acknowledges that the Oasis Forum and other stakeholders have genuine intentions in proposing this dialogue, as they have done with previous administrations.

“As stated before, the President remains committed to fostering peace and unity, recognizing them as essential foundations for national development,” said Mr. Hamasaka.
