National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) says the current drought has affected Zambia’s nutrition levels in a negative way since some crops being depended on to boost nutrition dried up.
Zambia’s drought situation has affected 84 districts with the President declaring it a national disaster and emergency.
National Food and Nutrition Commission Deputy Executive Director, Mathews Mhuru, says the commission has since embarked on smart surveys to ascertain the extent to which the drought has affected the nutrition levels for the country.
Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, Mr. Mhuru said the data collected will inform the commission on the best response plans to boost nutrition.
“This will deter further shocks where nutrition in concerned,” said Mr. Mhuru.
