LCC LAUNCHES MOSQUITO CONTROL EXERCISE

The Lusaka City Council’s (LCC) Pest Control unit has commenced a comprehensive larviciding exercise targeting the elimination of mosquitoes at their breeding stage.

Larviciding refers to the process of controlling or eliminating mosquito larvae, the immature stages of mosquitoes typically found in water.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, says the move aims to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, such as malaria.

“The exercise is being conducted at all identified water bodies suspected to be breeding grounds for mosquitoes in various parts of Lusaka, including Kaunda Square, Chelstone, Chawama and Garden,” said Mr. Bulumba in  a statemenet issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Bulumba said that the council aims to reduce the adult mosquito population, thereby minimizing the risk of disease transmission.
