ZIPRC HAILS OPERATIONALIZATION OF ATI LAW

The Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC) says the operationalization of the Access to Information (ATI) law is a significant step towards enhancing transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in Zambia.

The ATI law mandates public institutions to provide access to information held by the government.

ZIPRC Chief Executive Officer, Nimon Muleya, therefore says  citizens can hold public officials accountable for their actions, leading to improved governance and reduced corruption using the ATI.

“With greater transparency and free flow of information, public institutions will be motivated to improve their service delivery,” said Mr. Muleya in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said the  ATI law also underpins democratic values by promoting openness and participation.

Mr. Muleya said ZIPRC stands ready to support the implementation of the ATI law and to collaborate with all stakeholders in promoting its benefits.

“The Institute commends the government for this progressive step and encourages all Zambians to utilize the opportunities provided by the ATI law to enhance our nation’s development,” said Mr. Muleya.
