President Hakainde Hichilema has stressed the need to Make farming more viable to the young people.
Speaking when he officiated at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA Campus in Chongwe today, President Hichilema said farming remains a key money making venture that can change the Livelihoods of the young people.
Mr. Hichilema said that government is working hard to encourage the youth participate in farming activities, such as providing loans for youths to acquire small pieces of land.
“ The young people can start growing drought resistance crops such as cassava and sorghum that are economically beneficial”, said Mr. Hichilema.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema pledged governments support to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
He said that there is need to make use of the institute to research on the best farming practices in light of climate change.
