The Lusaka City Council (LCC) says it will step up enforcement efforts to address noise pollution through increased monitoring, inspections, and enforcement actions against pubs and night clubs.
This comes after complaints where made to the council about noise pollution from some pubs and night clubs, who play loud music beyond acceptable levels in most parts of the city.
LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba says the council will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or entities found to be in violation of noise pollution.
“The complainants from the citizens feel the noise pollution is affecting them negatively resulting in a disruption of peace and tranquility”, said Ms. Mwamba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She has therefore remind all residents, businesses, and institutions to operate withing their jurisdiction, and adhere to existing regulations and guidelines on noise control.
