The National Biosafety Authority (NBA) says it is investigating reports of imported Mealie Meal that may contain Genetically Modified Organisms GMOs, in Sesheke district of Western Province.
There are reports that smugglers have illegally imported the said mealie meal and is currently selling on the market in Sesheke.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, NBA Chief Executive Officer Luckson Tonga says the authority is investigating on weather the mealie meal contains GMOs and how is was imported into the country.
“The authority is aware of the said mealie meal on the market in Seshske and officer are on the ground investigating the case”, said Mr. Tonga
