A 60-year-old man of Lusaka’s Chainda compound has been arrested for defiling his 11-year-old granddaughter.
According to Police investigations, the suspect has been having carnal knowledge of the Grade five pupil at different occasions, but was caught in the act by a concerned neighbor, on March 23rd at around 11hours.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said in a statement to RCV News in Lusaka today that it was further revealed that the abuse used to happen before the girl goes to school.
“It is alleged that the mother and other family members leave home early leaving the daughter with her grandfather alone at home”, said Mr. Mwale
He said Police arrested and detained the suspect, while the victim has been issued with a medical report.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwale said a 59-year-old man in Chirundu District has been arrested for defiling a 13-year-old girl, whom he ambushed, as she was heading to the garden near the Kafue River.
Mr. Mwale said the incident occurred on March 26, 2024 around 06:30 hours at Chiwena village in Chirundu District.
“The victim is currently receiving medical attention while the suspect is in Police custody “, said Mr. Mwale.
