58 FOREIGN NATIONALS APPREHENDED FOR IMMIGRATION OFFENCES

A total of 58 foreign nationals have been apprehended in Lusaka, Livingstone, and Chipata for various immigration-related offences.

This was during  routine clean-up operations conducted between 11th and 13th April, 2025.

Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka, says in Lusaka, 26 individuals were apprehended on 13th April, 2025, comprising 15 Burundians, 6 Congolese, 3 Rwandese, and 2 Tanzanians, all aged between 20 and 54.

Mr. Nshinka said that they were found selling in grocery shops without valid immigration permits.

“In Livingstone, 20 individuals were apprehended on 11th April, and in Chipata, 12 Malawians were apprehended on 11th and 12th April, 2025 in the Central Business District for illegal entry into the country,” said Mr. Nshinka in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that the Lusaka, Livingstone and Chipata routine operations bring the number of persons apprehended for various immigration-related offences across the country between 10th and 13th April, 2025 to 127.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nshinka said that the Department of Immigration between 11th and 13th April, 2025, received a total of 10 Zambian nationals who were removed from neighbouring countries for various offences.

He said that of the 10 returnees, nine comprising 5 females and 4 males were received on 13th April, 2025 by Immigration officers at the Mwami One Stop Border Post, who were expelled from Malawi after being found to have entered that country illegally.

Mr. Nshinka said that in a separate incident, Sililo Sililo, a 38-year-old male of Senanga District, was received by Immigration Officers at Katima Mulilo Border Control who was removed from Namibia following the completion of a  3 -year prison sentence for stock theft.
