394 COOPERATIVES AND CLUBS IN CHAWAMA  EMPOWERED WITH CDF GRANTS

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has empowered a total of 394 cooperatives and clubs in Chawama Constituency with Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grants since 2022.

LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, says the funding initiative is designed to provide essential start-up and expansion capital for local small-scale businesses, thereby fostering job creation and improving the livelihoods of residents.

“A total of K8,733,144 was allocated by government to support the initiative, facilitating effective program implementation,” said Mr. Bulumba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Bulumba highlighted that the program demonstrates government’s commitment to economic empowerment and boosting entrepreneurial potential in communities, key steps toward poverty reduction and less reliance on formal employment.

He said in line with CDF guidelines, the Local Authority has continued to monitor and support grant recipients, ensuring proper fund utilization and sustainability.

Mr. Bulumba has further urged  residents to take advantage of the current CDF application window to apply for grants, loans, bursaries, or community projects before it closes on August 31, 2025.
