Two grade 5 pupils from Angelina Tembo Primary School in Kabwe have died after the school boundary wall collapsed on them.
Central Province Police Commissioner, Charity Munganga, says the girls, both aged 10, were about to enter the school premises when the driver of a Benz truck Reg No AJD 7364 identified as Enock Zulu contracted to deliver roofing sheets to the school, missed the gate, and hit into the boundary wall.
Ms. Munganga said that the accident happened around 11:50 hours at Angelina Tembo Primary School in Kabwes’ Bwacha Township.
“The driver abandoned the truck before the arrival of the officers at the scene of accident. A manhunt to bring him to book has already been initiated,” said Ms. Munganga in a statemenet issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said that the deceased have been identified by their parents as Mirriam Mulenga and Precious Mundela.
Ms. Munganga said that the bodies have deposited in the Kabwe Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
