13 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN KAFUE ROUNDABOUT THEFT CASES

The Zambia Police Service has apprehended 13 suspects in connection with thefts from motor vehicles at Kafue Roundabout as of February 13, 2025.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, revealed that an identification parade was conducted on February 21, 2025, with 6 witnesses who are also victims of the crimes present.

In a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Hamoonga stated that six male suspects were positively identified by the victims saying that they have since been jointly arrested and charged with Theft from Motor Vehicle, contrary to Section 276(c) of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mr. Hamoonga further disclosed that seven other male suspects, who were not identified during the parade, have been jointly arrested and charged with one count of Idle and Disorderly, contrary to Section 178 (b) of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

He added that all 13 suspects remain in police custody and will appear in court soon, while police continue routine patrols at Kafue Roundabout to maintain order and prevent further criminal activities.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hamoonga said that six male victims reported their stolen items, which included motor vehicles, mobile phones, and money.
