100,000 STUDENTS SUPPORTED WITH CAMFED ‘MY BETTER WORLD’ PROGRAM

CAMFED Zambia has disclosed that it is providing “My Better World” support and mentorship programs to about 100, 000 boys and girls in selected districts across the country.

CAMFED provides educational opportunities to girls and empowers young women to become leaders of change.

Speaking on a sideline interview with RCV News during the Consultative Meeting on the Integration of My Better World Program with Teacher Training Colleges meeting in Lusaka today, CAMFED Programme Manager Muka Mweemba said the mentorship program is being implemented in five Provinces including Muchinga, Northern, Luapula, Central and Western and Eastern Provinces.

“The program which is being spearheaded by alumni members aims to support vulnerable girls in their secondary education and help them achieve academic success,” said Ms. Mweemba.

Ms. Mweemba said the organization is currently providing My Better World services to 650 schools across the country to benefit more students.

She emphasized that the program has been running for five years and addresses issues such as early marriages, teenage pregnancies, and child abuse.

Ms. Mweemba further said that the organization is also working closely with traditional leaders and other stakeholders to ensure girls remain in school through sponsorships, with government support.

“CAMFED’s goal is to expand the My Better World program to the government and explore its integration into the education system to reach more vulnerable girls in various schools throughout the country,” said Ms. Mweemba.
