SOCIALIST PARTY CALLS FOR RESIGNATION OF SECRETARY TO THE CABINET

Opposition Socialist Party President, Fred M’membe, has called on the Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, to resign if he is not in charge of his role.

Mr. M’membe’s appeal follows what he termed as the ongoing political rantings by civil servants on governance issues.

He said the country is confused with the current happenings where public officers are involved in partisan politics when they are supposed to be neutral in the execution of their duties.

“We raise these questions because we have never seen or heard Mr. Kangwa as Head of the civil service issue political statements, and yet his juniors are constantly involved in political rhetoric and misconduct”, said Mr. M’membe in a statement to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He has appealed to Mr. Kangwa to either take drastic disciplinary measures to curtail the ongoing political misconduct and overzealousness of the civil servants under his office or resign to protect his image.

Mr. M’membe has further appealed to Mr. Kangwa to educate the nation on the roles and ethical conduct of civil servants.
