Zesco United coach George Lwandamina is pleased his charges have bounced back from their 2014 CAF Confederation Cup exit with a win in Saturday’s league game against Nchanga Rangers.
The Ndola club beat Nchanga 3-1 at home at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium just a week after Medeama of Ghana eliminated them 2-1 on aggregate from the Confederation Cup.
“It is a good result after the Confederation Cup result,” Lwandamina said.
“But still the boys have been playing well and it is good the boys have picked up the three points which is good for our league challenge.”
The win saw three-time Zambian champions Zesco rise from seventh to fourth with six points from two games and with a match in hand.
Zesco are just three points behind leaders Power Dynamos.
Goals from Bornwell Silengo, Maybin Mwaba and Jackson Mwanza in the 5th, 38th and 86th minutes handed Zesco the three points.
Patson Daka headed in the visitors’ consolation in the 65th minute to see Nchanga tumble from second to fifth after suffering their first defeat of the season.
