Energy Expert Johnstone Chikwanda has called for the random testing of deep-fried food stuffs and cooking oil for traces of transformer oil in view of increased vandalization of transformers.
Mr. Chikwanda says Transformer oil is being used to increase the thermal stability of cooking oil at high temperatures in order to allow for reuse.
He has told Christian voice news that transformer oil is dangerous and harmful adding that it can cause cancer, liver and kidney malfunctioning among other dangers.
Mr. Chikwanda has therefore urged relevant authorities to investigate the matter to ensure the safety of citizens.
