Policy Monitoring and Research Centre PMRC has commended government for increasing allocation of teachers in rural areas saying it is a positive investment towards rural development.

PMRC Acting Executive Director Sydney Mwamba says the recruitment is also a step towards reducing developmental inequalities between urban and rural learners through provision of equitable quality education services.

In a statement released to Radio Christian voice news today, Mr Mwamba said that therefore the demand for local goods and services will be increased in the rural areas.

He has since projected more investment opportunities in rural areas.

Mr. Mwamba has however urged government increase the budgetary allocation towards the education sector to sustain the gains made so far.
